Maaaan... it's been an interesting and crazy week.

First off, I'm an uncle.  My brother's girlfriend had her baby, after a sudden hemmorage that could have led to her losing the baby (had they shown up10 minutes later than they did).  My brother named him AEthan Nathaniel Channell (that's just pronounced "Ethan"... and it's that greek symbol... crazy, eh?), which has a pretty cool ring to it.

The RAISING THE STAKES AND MINI-CINEMA FESTIVAL WEBSITES are currently down.  I'm quite distressed.  My friend Häakon hosts our sites on his showchoir.com server and I have not been able to login to upload any new updates.  Actually, it did let me login and upload... but the files didn't transfer all the way and now all the pages are completely blank!  Looks like I might finally be buying the IWC Films domain name...

Went to Point Park today for an interview for the Cinema/Digital Arts department... I'm almost certain that I won't be going there.  Tuition is $16,000 and I can only get $12,000 in scholarships for sure.  Plus, I'd be forced to only make 5-10 minute shorts and focus solely on writing, directing, cinematography, or editing.  In other words, I'd only be writing or I'd only be directing... and so-on.  The head of the department didn't even watch all of my films and rushed me through the interview in less than a half hour, then quickly showed me the facilities.  I didn't even get time to finish discussing my favorite directors, so I didn't get to discuss my love for George A. Romero, David Lynch, etc.

The way I see it, is film school actually necessary?  Lots of directors didn't go to school for film.  I can go to WVU for something related, like communications or something and keep doing films on the side in the summer or during vacations.  As for the contacts you make in a film school like Point Park, the way I see it, I can go up there during student screenings to scout for my festival, since I'll be driving and all.  Then I can get to know some of the people up there interested in film and possibly get some future crews and collaborators.

In other words, I'd be continuing my own private film school I first enrolled in back in 2001 when I first started playing with Josh Lively's Digital8 camera.

I think it might work... at least I hope.

Fuck Valentine's Day.

That's all.

(and yes, I am bitter and jealous.)

Oh man, it's been ka-raaaazy lately.

Let's see what all has been going on... first off, I made All State Chorus and quite frankly, it's pretty damned tough.  We've had some practices which were pretty much eye-openers, making all of us realize that we need to work on the music more.  But I think that everything's going to work out alright, as long as we set up some outside rehearsals and stuff.

IWC Films has been pwning this new video hosting site called LiveDigital.com.  If you're a filmmaker or just have some funny videos you'd like to share, you should definitely check it out, because they offer 1GB of free space for hosting videos, sounds, and pictures.  You can check out our site at http://iwcfilms.livedigital.com and please register for the site and give us some reviews.  Every review gives us points which helps us look like people are actually enjoying our work and if we get enough, they'll give us even more space.

However, here's the biggest news for IWC Films... remember that zombie movie, Die & Let Live, that we started during the summer and then put on hiatus because there was too much shit going on at the time and I decided I didn't like the script?  Well, I've spent the past 8 months or so revising the script and finally have a final draft done...

...and we have funding!

T.W. Anderson, a reviewer for Film Threat, was so impressed with our work with Raising The Stakes, that he decided to put up $350 toward the production for an executive producer credit!  To put things into perspective, Raising The Stakes cost $110 overall to produce.  However, Die & Let Live will have a total budget of around $500-$600, so if we're lucky, it'll turn out to be 500%-600% better than RTS.  Also, b-movie star and all-around cool guy Trent Haaga has agreed to appear in some second-unit scenes which will be shot in Los Angeles (unfortunately, not by me).  So, as I said before... this movie's gonna pwn.

However, we still need to raise at least $100 more for the budget.  So any people around here that want to help out, I'll be selling DVDs of Raising The Stakes and Faces of Schlock Vol. 2 to help make that cash.  RTS is going for $10 and FOS2 is $5 and you can get them together for... $15.  Quite a bargain, isn't it?  This deal will last until I run out of copies, so get 'em while you can!

And here's a look at what will be owning my soul until this movie is finished... the D&LL production notebook:

Also, I highly recommend everyone gets on LimeWire and download DJ Santana's "Fine Night Tonight" (or the proper title, "A Fine Day", though I think it's easier to find with the other title) because it's quite possibly the most addicting song ever.  I seriously love it... I even looked into licensing it for the movie, but the costs for the original were higher than the entire budget of the film.  Maybe next time...

Oh yeah, there's some more cool IWC-related news.  First off, we're working on a remake of a short we made back when we were 16 called April Fooled.  The original sucked ass, but the concept was pretty good, so we came up with some new ideas to make it work better.  Basically, Josh is trying to pull an April Fools Day prank on Zane, but no one notices because they're all preoccupied watching reruns of old Nickelodeon game shows, so Josh gets angry and starts killing everyone in the theme of those game shows... only to find that everyone would rather watch Legends of the Hidden Temple than find out who's killing their friends.

And The Fist Fighting Eddies will be getting back together for a show at the Thespian Halofest on March 11th, which is a rock show/Halo tournament/fund raiser so the Thespians can go to New York.  It should be pretty fun and you can hear a new song called "The Best Saturday Ever" over at our Myspace... http://www.myspace.com/fistfightingeddies

And go to Josh's Myspace for the funniest picture ever: http://www.myspace.com/j_mcnasty

Wow, this has been a damned good weekend.

Friday, I went to Buckhannon to pick up my car... yes, the time has come to file a FAFSA, so you know that money I've been saving to get a car?  Yeah, time to use it.  I am now the owner of 2003 Saturn with 29,000 miles.  Now I just need to finish learning how to drive and get my license.

Then I swing by the grocery store and start thumbing through the new Fangoria... and I'm in it... twice.

Yes, I'm proud to say that I am listed after the cinematic masterpiece that is Puppet Master vs. Demonic Toys.  Brilliant performances from Corey Feldman and that chick from Weird Science.  Man, I used to love that show... they should put that on DVD.

Then I come home, to discover some audio gear I bought on eBay had arrived.  I am now the owner of a Sennheiser shotgun mic and a Sony lav mic.  Now, remember Zane Crosby owns a Panasonic DVX-100a camera...

This summer... I can't wait.

IWC caught wind of the Westboro Baptist Church's planned demonstration during a memorial service for the 12 lives taken in the Sago mine disaster. We documented our experiences, which are now online in a short documentary at: http://livedigital.com/AOp9FQDtbw/content/10392

I cut a three minute introduction to speed it up a bit. Also, I will be fixing the poor quality and adding subtitles in the weeks to come. Maybe even doing a new edit. And be sure to read this article from Wikipedia:
